Rave: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

Another day, another Giorgio Armani rave. Okay, maybe not, but it sure feels that way. Armani is hands down, my favorite makeup line when it comes to foundations. I wrote a glowing review on the Maestro Fusion Makeup foundation and while I love it for everyday, I needed something with a little more coverage for a slew of upcoming family weddings.

Naturally, I chose the other Armani foundation that is raved about by almost everyone that has used it – the famed Luminous Silk Foundation. I picked mine up from Nordstroms for $60.

I’ve been testing it our for a few weeks now to see how it reacts with my skin, and it is worth all the hype that surrounds it. I absolutely love this foundation! For reference, I am the shade 7.5, which is a touch darker than my skin, but matches well due to it being on the yellow side.

Like the Maestro, it has a silky texture that glides on the skin and blends in with ease. I’ve tried applying it with my hands, a beauty blender and a Sigma flat-top kabuki brush. I prefer my hands for a lighter coverage and the kabuki for a more full-face.

Once applied, I find it sets rather quickly and is surprisingly, very matte. In fact, I only apply a setting powder in my t-zone, which is a first for this oily skinned gal. The finish is very natural and like it promises, luminous. It seems like I’m not wearing a medium-coverage foundation, which it is. It also has more coverage than the the lighter Maestro.

However, the real selling point is the lasting power. I thought Maestro was impressive in that department, but Luminous Silk even beat that out! This stuff stays on until I wash my face; at it’s longest was 12 hours.

Hands down, the best foundation I have ever used. I still love you on my good skin days Maestro, but Luminous Silk will the be the one I reach for on special occasions, or when I need my skin to look it’s absolute best.
