Wear Your Passion

You are what you do. If you do boring, stupid, monotonous work, chances
are you’ll end up boring, stupid, and monotonous.
 – Bob Black

There is nothing sexier than hearing a person talk about their work with so much passion that they’re wearing it. It doesn’t matter if you’re a writer or a business person, a bus driver or a dog walker – if you love what you do, there’s an undeniable enthusiasm behind it.

It’s a cliche, but I really believe if you’re passionate about what you do, you’ll feel happy to go to work – and yes, it will still feel like work. It’s a misconception that any job, even a dream job, will always feel like fun. There’s will always be a moment that feels like work, but the key is to find one that you’re happy to wake up for in the morning to go to – whatever it may be.

I had the pleasure of interviewing many artists and entertainers when I was working for an entertainment website in New York. It was obvious some were in it for the money and the fame, but those ones who had that fire in their eyes – those were the ones I could spend hours talking to if given the chance. Those artists drove me to want to be better at my craft. They made me want to write the best article I had ever written to do justice to their passion for music.

I will never tire of hearing or seeing that passion in someone. I only hope to emote that when I speak to others about writing.

Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears. – Les Brown. If we’d let go of those fears, maybe we would all be able to wear our passion for the world to see.
